The discounted rates for my winter workshops in the month of December (and January) when daylight is at a premium seemed to appeal to people, and I was fortunate to have a good number booked for the month, unlike last year. So something I will continue with I feel.

While most of them were for the crested tits, we did spend a couple of days at the red squirrel hide, and with at least five individuals visiting, my clients enjoyed quite a bit of action from them.

Andy has set the site up so as the props make the best use of any light that is around, and on one day, as the morning sunshine rose and started to illuminate the woods, one of the squirrels chose to sit on the bracket fungus to eat a hazelnut.

Such a beautiful sight.

NB, sessions at the red squirrel hide are now at a fixed daily rate of £200 (at current time of posting). That's a full day with me there to set up shots, advise on settings and provide much needed hand-warmers!
