October 2025
21st November 2025November was a fabulous month as Judith visited me twice, which for someone who lives literally at the other end of the UK to where I am, made me feel very special.
Early in November we travelled over to Mull for a holiday, and spent much of it looking for otters in very gloomy and often wet conditions. The end of the month saw us exploring the Highlands, and a day out high on the hills, in some beautiful wintery weather in search of wildlife.
After seeing hare footprints in the dusting of snow, I scanned the rocks and found one sitting in a sheltered spot, though there was hardly a breeze to worry about. We crept around the side of it, and gradually eased closer. It didn't move, so we were able to approach slowly and fairly close. Judith ventured closest, with me staying back a little.
As it was nearing dusk, the sun was starting to sink (barely rises at this time of the year) so I zoomed out on my view, to capture the habitat, the sky and the hare, small-in-frame.
It's one of my favourite mountain hare shots I've ever taken, so it's a no-brainer for the month.
