  • FAQ

1How fit do I need to be?
Pete will chat to you regarding fitness. The most strenuous days will be for the mountain hare and ptarmigan. Both require a hike up to look for the subjects, and may require sitting or lying down for lengths of time.
2What equipment and clothing will I need?
Pete will issue a checklist for the requirements for the tour, and is available to chat to, or answer emailed questions prior to the tour.
    3Where can I stay?
Inverness has a wide array of accommodation, from high-end luxury hotels, to the familiar likes of Premier Inns, Travelodge etc. Plus there are AirBnBs, B&Bs and hostels.
4Can I buy food for lunch each day?
Pete can call into one of the many supermarkets around Inverness to grab food and drink for each day.
    5How long is each day?
Pete will collect each client from their accommodation, and then head out to the location(s) for the day. Obviously the time needed for this will depend on where the clients are staying around the city, and what traffic is present. The days will end when the light is lost, and you will be dropped back to your accommodation again.
6Will I be able to photograph all the subjects from the list?
Pete will strive to cram in as many of the species as possible. Clients will be asked before the tour what their preferred subjects are, so they can be prioritised over less important ones. Some species will take a whole day to cover. Others can be squeezed into shorter sessions, so more than one can be visited in one day.
7How do I get to Inverness?
Inverness is the capital of the Scottish Highlands, and is blessed with good travel links, from the A9 road, through rail options (including the Caledonian Sleeper service) plus flights from London, Birmingham and beyond.
