After visiting Norfolk last year for the first time since before Dad died, I yearned to return. The cottage we had booked to stay in was fab, with lovely views across countryside, and a small river. Wildlife was seemingly all around us, and we had wonderful encounters with both brown hares and both barn owls, and little ones.

With the owner's number in my phone, when the chance to revisit offered itself again, I snapped it up, and a few messages later, I'd booked the same place, for April, albeit slightly earlier in the month.

I'll be adding a Blog post soon about the whole adventure, so it would be mad to repeat it all on here too.

The hares were arguably the best subject of the week. We found out from a local farmer that they had been boxing back in February, so we were too late for most of that, alas, but they were still active, running around the fields, grazing, grooming and sleeping. A lot.

The month's choice comes from a close encounter, when one individual scampered across a field, towards where I was lying against the hedgerow. I actually buffered my camera, which is daft, as it then wouldn't take any photos when the hare was really close. Shows I can still get a bit over-excited by encounters.

This was one of the pics from it approaching. And a reminder that I really ought to spend more time with the hares around Inverness, as there are quite a few here too.
