Spending a few hours on the magical isle of Lunga is always a treat, though this May I only had one chance, and it was a part of a workshop. And unlike previous visits, it was quite chilly.

There was a fresh brisk breeze that was seemingly great for the puffins to hang in, when flying around the cliffs, but it cut right through you, and the island has few places to shelter.

We also had rain and varying light, but the puffins were fabulous as always, and my client and I had hoped to get chances for images of them in amongst the flowers.

Plenty of springtime colours around with yellow buttercups and pinks from the thrift, plus the gorgeous blues and violets from the bluebells.

As bluebells are a woodland flower, I assume the islands like Lunga were once covered by woodland, and I wonder if the puffins would be there, had the trees remained?

Thankfully there were a few good patches of bluebells around, and some of the puffins were busy preparing their burrows for the breeding season ahead, and were mooching around among them, giving us the opportunities we had hoped for.
